National President of NLC, Comrade Abdulwaheed Omar, who made this known also directed unions in Sokoto to start mobilising workers for a strike action in solidarity with the affected workers.
It would be recalled that Governor Wamakko during a ceremony in his village publicly flogged a PHCN worker to a state of coma due to power failure.
The NLC boss, while describing the action of the governor as unacceptable, said it was an uncivilised, undemocratic behaviour least expected of anyone elected to serve the interest of the entire citizens of the state.
The Congress however asked the State House of Assembly to take steps to save the citizens from suffering the consequences of the governor’s hollow understanding of the responsibilities of the office of governor.
“The position of Congress is that the Governor must apologise publicly and he must do this as quickly as possible, otherwise we will unleash series of actions to protect the integrity of not just workers in Sokoto State, but that of the generality of Nigerian workers”.
According to Omar, such assault by the governor is a violation of the fundamental human rights of the PHCN worker and that it exposes the limit of the governor’s exposure to democratic ideals.
He added that if the Governor choose to be mute over the matter the congress will invoke its collective slogan of an Injury to One Is an Injury to all.
