Fire razes Shema’s office

An inferno yesterday razed the office of Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema, destroying vital documents and property.
Briefing newsmen on the incident, Deputy Governor Abdullahi Garba Faskari, said the fire started at about 2pm and lasted for one hour
.
He said the inferno was caused by an electrical fault but noted that the government would set up an investigative panel to find out the cause and recommend measures to prevent future occurrence.
He said,“vital documents and books were consumed by the fire. No life was lost.”
It was also gathered that the office was locked when the fire started as Shema was in Kaduna State for the PDP zonal congress.
Daily Trust gathered that fire service officials and other government staff had to remove part of the roofing sheets to be able to put off the fire. The office was razed in 2010 when the governor was also out of the state.
