C’River PDP heads back to apex court

The Peoples Democratic Party has indicated interest to approach the Supreme Court for a “consequential order” following the last Friday’s judgment that sacked five governors from office, including Senator Liyel Imoke of Cross River State.
Cross River State chairman of PDP, Chief Ekpo Okon on Sunday at the party’s secretariat, said the judgment brought confusion as it did not breakdown the import and also was not specific on what would be the take off point for a governorship candidate who had served four years in office.
Okon said, “The judgment of the Supreme Court did not give consequential order. We are going back to the court, because it is incumbent, especially at the apex court to give consequential order that will further breakdown the import of the judgment.
“It is at that point that we will know what will be the take off point for a governorship candidate who may have served earlier.
“But a Calabar based legal practitioner, Mr. Mba Ukweni, said he did not understand the kind of consequential order the party would be seeking.”
