President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, has sent a message of condolence to the government and people of Gombe State over the death of the deputy governor, David Miyims Albashi, describing it as a very painful loss.

The deputy governor was reported dead in a German Hospital, following serious injuries sustained in a ghastly motor accident.

Senator Mark in a condolence message, signed by his chief press secretary, Paul Mumeh, described late deputy governor as an amiable, easy going and a patriotic public servant who gave all his best to the service of society and humanity.

Senator Mark lamented that late Albashi died when his services were most needed.

He, however, noted that death was a necessary end that would eventually come, and therefore urged the bereaved to take solace in the fact that the late deputy governor contributed to the making of a new Gombe State and Nigeria at large.

Meanwhile, THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden death of the deputy governor of Gombe State, Mr David Albashi, from injuries he sustained in a tragic car crash.

According to a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday, in Abuja, by the national publicity secretary of the party, Professor Rufai Ahmed Alkali, the acting national chairman of PDP, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, on behalf of members of the National Working Committee (NWC) and the entire party conveyed his sadness over the incident to the family of the deceased, government and people of Gombe State.

According to the statement, "The demise of this refined gentleman at a time he, along with the governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Ibrahim Dankwambo, is just settling down to consolidate on the gains of democratic governance in the state, came to us as a rude shock and is indeed a bitter pill to swallow.

"We have indeed lost one of the shining lights of our party, but the Almighty God knows best. We wish to offer our heartfelt condolence to His Excellency, Alhaji Ibrahim Dankwambo, the government and people of Gombe State and the Albashi family for this sad loss of a decent, loyal and great gentleman whose committed service to our fatherland shall remain evergreen in our memory."

Similarly, Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State has commiserated with his Gombe State counterpart, Governor Ibrahim Dankwanbo, over the death of his deputy, Malam David Miyims Albashi.

Governor Amosun, who expressed his heartfelt condolences, described Albashi’s death as shocking: ”The death of Mr. Albashi is quite shocking. He died at a period when his service towards the development of Gombe State under the leadership of Governor Dankwanbo was most needed.”

Senator Amosun prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and for the Almighty Allah to grant the family, government and people of Gombe State the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”

The late Albashi was born on January 15, 1959 at Tiksir village in Balanga Local Government Area of Gombe State.
