Ondo Guber Poll: Why We Restricted Movement - IGP

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Abubakar, explained yesterday that movement was restricted in Ondo State from 6:00pm beginning from yesterday in order to enable his men to monitor undesirable elements who may want to cause election malpractice and other crimes during the gubernatorial poll scheduled to hold tomorrow in the state.
Speaking after a meeting of sub-commitee on funding of the police reform programme chaired by Vice President Namdi Sambo at the presidential villa, Abubakar noted that his men were fully prepared for the Saturday election in Ondo.
He said: “I was in Ondo and came back late last night. I have been to the place. I have seen some of the areas. I went round to address a stakeholders meeting and INEC chairman and I equally spoke to my officers and men in preparedness for Ondo guber election on Saturday.
“Restriction of movement is not for complete three days. It is from Thursday 6 pm because we want to ensure that people who have intentions for any stupidity should not take arms and ammunition and import people who ordinarily are not suppose to be in Ondo for the election,” he stated.
