LEADERSHIP Photojournalist’s Attacker Arraigned In Court


A 28- year old man, Tayo Ogunsola has been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate Court for assaulting and battering of two journalists, Benedict Uwalaka and Kola Olasupo.
Tayo Ogunsola, who is a director at TOS Funeral Limited was said to have battered and assaulted Benedict Uwalaka of LEADERSHIP newspapers and one other on August 9, 2012.
Aside the assault, the accused was also charged of damaging two cameras worth 715,000 naira belonging to the photo-journalists.
Meanwhile, the accused pleaded not guilty to the two count charge when the charges were read to him.
Counsel to the accused, Ime Carew pleaded to the court that his client be granted bail based on self recognition, saying his client had no criminal record whatsoever.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr. E.O Ogunkanmi, granted him bail in the sum of 100,000 Naira with one surety who has substantial evidence of tax payment.
The surety is also expected to have property within the jurisdiction of the court.
Further hearing has been adjourned to October 4, 2012.
