Jos: Fulani, Berom Leaders Agree To Resolve Issues Amicably

The Plateau State Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Dipo Ayeni  has called on both Fulanis  and Beroms to sheathe their swords and embrace the path of peace as elders from both sides resolved to settle their differences amicably.
The police commissioner’s appeal followed the killing of a man in Ruku village of Barkin Ladi last Saturday.
Ayeni  said the command would  prosecute persons who are involved in escalating the crisis in Barkin Ladi as a way of bringing lasting peace to the area since all approaches to peace through appeals and dialogue in the area were futile.
Ayeni stated this yesterday in a meeting with elders and stakeholders from the Berom and Fulani groups where he called on the people to submit names of people involved in killings, burning, cattle rustling and destruction of properties and farm lands to the command “for proper investigation.”
“We can  assure you of justice in order to stop this culture of impunity and achieve sustainable peace in both Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local Government Areas,” he said.
He described the warring parties are a source of embarrassment to the state and nation, stressing that elders of both communities should expose trouble makers or be held liable.
