UNN student commits suicide

TRAGEDY struck on Wednesday night at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), when Onyebuchi Okonkwo, a 300-level student of Physics and Astronomy, committed suicide by allegedly hanging himself.
According to reports, the incident, which occurred in an uncompleted building at the cricket pitch of the Franco Hostel of the institution, had left the staff and students confused.
The Dean, Student Affairs Department of the university, Professor Chukwuemeka Onyeoku, who spoke to newsmen at Nsukka, described the incident as unfortunate and shocking.
Also, a close friend of the deceased, who pleaded anonymity, said that Onyebu-chi, who was his class representative, was not  a poor student.
As of the time of filing this report, his body had been removed by the police and deposited at the University of Nigeria’s medical centre mortuary.
