Senate Demands Probe Of All Aircraft

The senate yesterday declared that Nigeria cannot afford to go back to the “anxiety-prone aviation dark ages.”
A statement by senate’s spokesman, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe in reaction to the Dana Plane Crash in Lagos on Sunday, said the senate demanded prompt and thorough investigation not limited to the Dana incident alone but the entire operators.
“Senate demands nothing but a holistic investigation of the remote and immediate causes of the Sunday crash devoid of rhetoric.
“Senate would also insist that the probe this time should not be limited to Dana Airlines and their fleet, but all the aircraft being operated in Nigeria.
“We had thought that Nigeria has landed in the golden era of safe aviation industry where all the standard codes that conform to international best practices are complied with.
“It is therefore unfortunate that the latest incident suggest ominously that we may be headed to the aviation dark ages. The Senate is therefore prepared to support every effort that would strengthen the industry, keep our sky safer and prevent the industry from retrogressing”, he said.
The Senate, Abaribe said is deeply touched and mourn the dead in the ill- fated plane, while also consoling the families of the victims.
