0 The 788 doctors that were recalled by the Lagos State government, yesterday, have started collecting their individual official letters of re-instate-ment from the Health Service Commission.
However, the recalled doctors have vowed not to resume work until all the788 doctors that were sacked have got their recall letters, saying some of them might be intentionally exempted from the recall exercise.
The Chairman of the Medical Guild, Dr. Olumuyiwa Odusote, who spoke in Lagos, yesterday, confirmed that Lagos State government had written to the doctors to go to the Health Service Commission in Lagos Island to collect the letters.
Odusote, however, said not all the doctors had collected their official letters as they were being distributed in batches according to a roaster posted at the commission.
According to him, doctors working with the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja were to collect their letters yesterday and today, while others in general hospitals were slated for tomorrow and Thursday.
He said: “I work at the Gbagada General Hospital, so I have not yet collected my letter. Those in LASUTH have started collecting their letters. We are not going to resume work until all the 788 doctors have been recalled officially.”
Odusote, however, said the Guild would constitute another meeting after the dates of collection of the letters had elapsed to access and collate the figures of doctors that were recalled.
