The National Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, Dr.Osahon Enabulele, has said the Lagos State Government has invited the leadership of the association for negotiation on Tuesday (today).
Enabulele, who spoke on Monday, said the national body received a letter of invitation from the office of the Head of Service of the state on Friday to meet with the governor.
According to him, the initial meeting between the elders’ committee of the NMA and the state government was deadlocked, hence the need for another round of dialogue.
Enabulele said the association had requested the personal contribution of the state governor, Babatunde Fashola in the new rounds of negotiation to ensure a speedy resolution to the crisis.
He said, “At the first meeting, we made our positions known, but they said it was beyond them and that only the governor could agree to some of our demands.”
He urged the government to reverse the sacking to create a platform for genuine dialogue.
He, however, said the NMA would not take any action until they had concluded negotiations with the state government.
