The NPC Director-General, Mr. Jamin Zubema, said when arepresentative of the Statistician-General of the Federation. Lewis Gambo, paid him a visit in Abuja on Friday that the commission would step up its birth registration process across the country.
He explained that new servers would be sent to states to capture birth registration and improve the national database for births and deaths which he said would make it easy to get information on all citizens.
Zubema stated that it was difficult to get information on individuals in the country, adding that the national database on births would make it easy to get information on citizens.
He said, “One problem in Nigeria is that you can’t get information on anyone, but the deployment of the database will provide information on where an individual is born, his parents, educational qualifications and other important details about his life.”
Zubema said the NPC would like to partner with the National Bureau of Statistics to educate Nigerians on the uses of statistical and demographic data, pointing out that the commission has seven data processing centres and offices in all the 774 local government areas in the country.
