Eviction Of Sacked Doctors: Fashola Is Dictatorial -NMA boss

The Chairman, Lagos state chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association(NMA), Dr. Edamisan Temiye, on Friday, accused the administration of Governor Babatunde Fashola (SAN) of Lagos State of dictatorial tendencies.
He said it was unfortunate that Fashola, an erudite lawyer, who signed the Lagos Tenancy Law last year, could allegedly break the law with impunity.
Temiye, who stated this in Lagos, on Friday, while reacting to the forceful eviction of sacked Lagos  doctors from  official quarters, said the step should be strongly condemned by members of the public.
He said it was sad that the government could go ahead and evict doctors when the authorities knew that there was a case in court, adding that the situation was more pathetic when a lawyer was at the helms of affairs in the state.
On the consequences of the government action, Temiye said it portended danger. “First, it will lead to brain drain  in Lagos State; doctors will leave the state and the patients going to general hospitals will suffer; they will wait for hours without seeing doctors. Aside this, the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) will have difficulties producing quality graduates,” he added
“The government is going for the kill and they don’t care whether they kill the whole citizens in so doing; that kind of government cannot be said to be democratic. Government should know that they are ruling over people and should not enslave them. They should realise that some people fought the military out of power in this country and they are the one benefitting from it without fighting.”
