End of terrorism in sight, says Defence Minister

The Minister of Defence, Dr. Bello Mohammed, says he is convinced that the current terrorism in the country will soon come to an end, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
Mohammed said this in a statement issued by his Special Assistant (Media), Mr. Emeka Nwankpa, on Tuesday in Abuja.
The statement said the minister was speaking against the backdrop of a dusk-to-dawn curfew imposed in Taraba following Monday’s blast in Jalingo, the state’s capital and similar development in Kaduna and Abuja.
It said that the minister expressed deep regret over the unfortunate incidents, describing them “as cruel, wicked and cowardly.”
The statement said the minister also described the spate of blasts as “obvious acts of desperation by the terror gangs.’’
It said that the operations of the terrorists were being persistently dislodged by the professional precision of members of the Nigerian Armed Forces and other national security agencies.
The statement restated the Federal Government’s commitment to protect law-abiding citizens while also pursuing its anti-terror crusade to ensure that the “country is finally rid of violence.’’
