THE Commandant-General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Ade Abolurin, has raised the alarm that aliens have begun to infiltrate the nation in the area of oil bunkering.
Dr Abolurin expressed this concern on Saturday, in Abuja, at a meeting with all the corps’ anti-vandal officers across the nation and ceremonial parade by 50 NSCDC personnel selected to undergo intensive arms-bearing programme in Kaduna.
He said the NSCDC operatives, with the support of other security agencies, had searched and discovered illegal refineries in some part of the country, adding that between January and March, over 150 of the illegal oil bunkerers and vandals were arrested.
The commandant-general said a Chinese and Ghanaians were among some of those arrested in Lagos recently and were being prosecuted by the police.
“Because of that, this new 50 personnel are going right away for another intensive, high-power armed squad training programme, to cover this time round activities in creeks, land and any other places you can imagine,” he said.
He called all stakeholders to support the corps in its effort to ensure that vandals, illegal bunkerers and other criminals were wiped away from the Nigerian soil.
Dr Abolurin said for the transformation agenda of the present administration of President Goodluck Jonathan to be achieved, all hands must be on deck to create conducive atmosphere for both foreign and local investors in the economy.
“This is possible the moment we believe in Nigeria and we work as patriotic Nigerians to create a crime-free and investor-friendly atmosphere and also allow the citizens to enjoy the dividends of democracy,” he added.
