Five persons including an Assistant Superintendent of Police, Salisu Ahmed, a Kaduna Polytechnic lecturer, Muhammad Abubakar, a 20-year-old girl who recently completed her secondary education and a woman were killed between Sunday and yesterday in Kano and Kaduna.

Also killed was a State Security Service (SSS) employee.
In a situation which looked like a mistaken identity, Alhaji Abubakar was shot dead while ASP Ahmed lost his life when he was shot in Kaduna metropolis by unknown gunmen.

Speaking to our reporter, senior brother of the late lecturer, Alhaji Mahmood Abdulsalam, who is also a former chief registrar of the polytechnic, confirmed the assassination of his brother, saying “my brother was shot after evening prayers when he left the mosque and went back home”.

According to him, “we usually prayed together every evening in my house, he came to my house and we talked at length before we went for prayers and shortly after the prayers, he then left for his house. He went to buy fuel for his generator and after we exchanged pleasantries and he left, it was not up to an hour after that, that his son called me that his father was shot,” he said.
According to him, “his son who opened the gate for him was trying to close it after his father when the two gunmen forcefully opened the gate and one of the them brought out a gun that looked like AK47 and shot him twice on his neck”.

Daily Sun also gathered that the lecturer was immediately rushed to the polytechnic hospital, Shehu Kangiwa Medical Centre where he died.
However, investigations also revealed that, the lecturer was killed in error and that he might have been mistaken for the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Rigasa, as some residents of Rigasa said, the assassinated lecturer used the same model and colour of car with the DPO.
However, the ASP was also killed by two gunmen who were riding on a motorcycle.

According to one of his housemaids, Malam Abdullahi, “the late Ahmed called his attention that somebody wanted to see him, that I should check whether I can identify the person, when I came, I recognised the person because I had earlier seen the person on Saturday.
“But after an hour I was awakened by somebody who told us we were under arrest, I quickly ran outside. After I ran out, I had a gunshot in the house, and came back again to discover my boss in his pool of blood and we took him to the police headquarters in Rigasa where they took him to 44 Army Reference Hospital where he was confirmed dead”, he narrated.

Police later confirmed the incident that, ASP Ahmed was killed by hoodlums at his residence.
The SSS man was yesterday killed in Maiduguri by gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram.
He was identified as Ibrahim Stanley Malgwi. The operative was shot dead at a barbing saloon at Abbaganaram within the Kaduna metropolis yesterday at about 12 noon. “The gunmen came on foot and trailed him to a barber’s saloon and shot him while having a haircut,” a source disclosed.
State director, Alhaji Ahmed Abdullahi confirmed the incident but did not give further details Daily Sun gathered that the late Malgwi was on duty when his assailants mowed him down.

Meanwhile, The 20-year-old Aisha Lawal Tolba Taura was killed in a cross-fire between soldiers and Boko Haram in Kano. She was said to be awaiting admission into a tertiary institution. Her family said she was buried in a cemetery at Zawachika Quarters, yesterday.
One of his relatives said the tragedy occurred somewhere along Panshekera by Sabon-Titi area, near the Gwal;e Veterinary Clinic at about 6pm when some persons tried to evade the “stop and search” checkpoint by the Joint Security Task Force (JTF).
A woman also died in the gunfight. JTF’s spokesman, Lt. Ikedichi O. Iweba, denied his men killed the victims.
A third casualty who was caught in the cross-fire, had been hospitalized.
