The senator representing Borno South senatorial district of Borno State at the National Assembly, Senator Aliyu Ndume, who is standing trial over an alleged financing of activities of the Boko Haram sect, on Wednesday, told a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja that the Federal Government has no case against him.
Although the trial was meant to commence on Wednesday, the court could not go ahead with it, following an observation made by Ndume’s counsel, Hyeladzira Nganjiwa, that there was a pending motion seeking for the quashing of the charges slammed on the senator by the State Security Service (SSS).
The prosecutor, Mrs Olufumilayo Fatunde, told the court that she was yet to see the motion, but the defence produced evidence to show that the motion had been served on them.
Ndume was challenging his trial on the grounds that there was no prima facie evidence in the proof of evidence linking him to the alleged offences.
