Army redeploys Kaduna GOC, 70 generals

Top officers of the Nigerian Army in strategic positions of command are affected in a major redeployment announced by the Army authorities on Wednesday.
Affected in the sweeping redeployments and appointments are 29 Maj.-Generals and 42 Brig.-Generals.
An electronic statement by the Chief of Staff to the Army Director of Information, Col. OU Abdul, on behalf of his former boss, Maj. Raphael Isah, announced the redeployment of the General Officer Commanding, One Division of the Army, Kaduna, Maj.-Gen. Joseph Shoboiki, to Defence Headquarters as the Director of Policy.
The former Director, Training and the Army Headquarters, Maj. Gen Garba Wahab, takes over as the new GOC of the 1 Division of the Nigerian Army.
The Army also announced the appointment of Maj. Gen J.O Nwaogbo as the new helmsman of the 3 Division, Jos, while the former GOC of the 82 Division, Maj. Sunday Idoko, is now Chief of logistics at the Army Headquarters.
The changes in the Army also involve the Commander of the Special Task Force in Jos, Maj. OS Osinowo, who now heads the 82 Div of the Nigerian Army.
According to the statement, the Plateau STF is now headed by Maj.Gen MB Ibrahim who was at the Defence Headquarters Abuja, while Maj. Gen Emmanuel Bassey, who held sway as the Commander, Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery becomes Chief of Administration at Army Headquarters.
Abdul stated that Maj. Gen. AT Jibrin is now the Director of Military Intelligence while Maj. U Buzugbe, becomes Military Secretary.
He said his erstwhile boss and Director of Army Public Relations, Maj. Gen Raphael Isa, has been made the Provost of the Nigerian Army.
He also said, the Nigerian Army Peace Keeping Centre Jaji, has a new Commander in person of Maj Gen JS Zaruwa while a former Commander, Department of Army Training and Operations at the Army HQs, Maj. AS Agha-Okoro is appointed Directors Legal service.
