Akpoyibo, six others apponted DIGs

ABUJA — The Police Service Commission yesterday appointed seven (7) Deputy Inspectors-General of Police with five of them elevated from the ranks of Commissioners of Police to DIG’s and confirmed the names of three senior officers reported exclusively by Vanguardas officers shortlisted for the appointment.

Also appointed by the PSC, were 13 Assistant Inspectors-General of Police from the ranks of Commissioners of Police while the Chairman of  EFCC, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Lamourde, has been elevated to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police.
Vanguard had reported on Wednesday that President Goodluck Jonathan, who is the chairman of the Police Council, sent a shortlist of senior Police officers made up of Assistant Inspectors- General of Police and Commissioners of Police for elevation as the new Deputy Inspectors-General of Police and forwarded same to the Police Service Commission for ratification.
The shortlist included the Assistant Inspector- General of Police in charge Zone 3, Suleiman Dauda Fakai who was at several times, AIG Zone 5, Benin, AIG Force Sec and AIG Zone 2, Lagos. He is scheduled to retire from the force in 2019.
There was also Mr. John Haruna, the Commissioner of Police in charge of Benue State Command and who hails from Taraba State, has been shortlisted to assume the position of DIG.
CP Haruna John was at several times, Commissioner of Police in charge FCT and Niger State. He was also CP in charge Federal Operations at Force headquarters. He has served as Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge Lagos State and Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge Anambra State. He is scheduled to retire in 2016.
The South East has Mr. Emmanuel Kachie Udorji, a Commissioner of Police who hails from Abia State as the officer shortlisted for Deputy Inspector-General of police. He has previously served as the Commissioner of Police in charge Edo and Bayelsa states. Udorji is scheduled for retirement in 2015.
The other Deputy Inspectors-General of Police appointed by the PSC are former Lagos State Police Commissioner, Mr. Marvel Akpoyibo, former Commissioner of Police, Plateau State, Mr. Abdurahaman Akano, CP Peter Yisa Gana and former AIG Zone 7, Alhaji Atiku Yesufu Kafur.
For the Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, those elevated are CP Solomon Arase, CP Akwa Ibom, CP Michael Zoukumor, CP FCT, CP Jonathan Johnson, CP Philemon Leha, CP COMPOL MOPOL, CP Suleiman Abba, CP Rivers State, CP David Omojola, former CP Edo State.
Others are CP Mamman Tsafe, CP Delta State, CP Olusegun Solomon, CP Dan’azumi Doma, CP Joseph Ibi, CP Training at Force headquarters, CP Saliu Argungu Hashimu, CP Muktari Ibrahim, and  CP Orubebe Ebikeme.
According to a statement signed by Ferdinand Ekpe, Chief Information officer of the commission, the Chairman of the PSC, DIG Parry Osayande (rtd), while congratulating those promoted, urged the personnel of the Nigeria Police Force to rise up to the security challenges confronting the nation as the commission would not hesitate to wield the big stick on all who would not put in their best towards the furtherance of the Nigeria Police reform.
