BENIN—Former Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Rowland Owie, has called on the Attorney-General of the Federation to prosecute former President Olusegun Obasanjo over the dismantling of toll gates.
Owie, who commended the re-introduction of toll gates by President Goodluck Jonathan, recalled the condemnation that greeted the destruction of the toll gates during the administration of Obasanjo and urged Federal Government to prosecute the former President over the destruction of government property.
He said: “When Obasanjo was dismantling these toll gates, some of us spoke out against it but the palace jesters around him said Nigerians should not listen to us.

“Federal Government should place the cost of rebuilding the gates across the nation at the feet of Obasanjo.
“He should bear the cost of rebuilding and because his action was criminal he should be charged to court for the destruction of government property.
“I call on the Attorney-General of the Federation to commence legal process against Obasanjo.
“The AGF has no excuse now because Obasanjo no longer enjoys immunity.”
