MAIDUGURI— Islamic sect, Boko Haram, struck again yesterday killing the protocol officer attached to Government House, Maiduguri, Borno State, Mallam Kala Boro, and a herbalist, Garba Abdullahi in Gwange ward of Maiduguri.
Confirming the incidents, the state Police Commissioner, Mr Simeon Midenda said: “The reports received from the Gwange Police Commander indicated that three Boko Haram gunmen attacked the residence of the protocol officer, Mallam Kala Boro, and shot him dead with a Kalashnikov rifle, before they proceeded to the residence of a herbalist in Gwange ward at dawn yesterday and fired several gunshots into his chest and head, killing him.
Vanguard learnt that sporadic gunshots followed after men of the Joint Task Force (JTF) arrived at the scenes of the attacks and started a “house to house” search for the fleeing gunmen for over 30 minutes without any arrest.
According to the state police boss, “the killing of the protocol officer brings to three, officers assassinated who were attached to the Maiduguri Government House, while a herbalist was equally killed by the sect in last March in the Muslim sect’s targeting of policemen and other security agents in the state.”
He said no arrests were made, because the suspects fled in the un-marked Golf vehicle into the neighbouring Gomari-Costain and Abaganaram wards.
